This little blue beauty was my first camera. The Fischer-Price 110. No zoom. No flash. Nearly indestructible. I was five when my parents gave it to me, and much to their chagrin, I dragged it everywhere, documenting the world.
Several years and cameras later, I began to study black-and-white darkroom photography. I earned a BA at the George Washington University where I studied Fine Arts with a concentration in oil painting, developing an understanding of composition, contrast, and color theory. I continued my education at the University of East Anglia, in the UK, where I earned an MA, and I further studied photography at the Rhode Island School of Design. During the summers, I supported myself by teaching photography and drawing classes at the Summer Institute for the Gifted.
My introduction to wedding photography came through a full-year apprenticeship. I began freelancing for studios, and I founded Jamie Corbman Photography.
What I find most exhilarating about wedding photography is capturing the unique moments of beauty during the energy and excitement of the event. I employ a photojournalistic style to capture candid moments that show the true relationships between you and your guests. A bride laughing with her maid of honor over a story from college. A groomsman nervously fidgeting with his cuff links. A groom blushing and hugging his best man after a toast. A father tearing up as his daughter says, “I do.”
For every client, I create images that are stunning and beautiful, capturing the unique magic of every wedding. On your wedding day, you will find me to be professional, energetic, and flexible. In order to deliver the highest-quality photographs, I use the most advanced equipment, the latest software, and studying cutting-edge techniques.
